Version 2.1.1 of the Noise Ninja standalone application
and version 2.1.3 of the plug-in version have been officially released.
The plug-in update fixes a bug in the Noise Brush that sometimes resulted
in corruption of the brush mask. The standalone update introduces Linux
x86 support and Mac Intel support. It also adds profile annotation auto-fill
support for image quality and adds jpe as a valid jpeg extension on all

reading ISO information from EXIF Makernotes of recent Canon point-and-shoots.
The updates are available on the download page.
Aside from the new platform support, this is a minor
update to Noise Ninja. For the last few quarters, we have been working
very hard on a significant and exciting new product. Sales of Noise Ninja
continue to be strong and growing, and we are taking advantage of this
success to strengthen our product line and deliver additional innovative
tools to our customers. We will disclose details when things are a bit

February 7, 2005 -- Plug-in version of Noise
Ninja released
PictureCode today officially released a Photoshop plug-in
version of its top-rated Noise Ninja software, which removes high-ISO
noise and grain from digital images. The plug-in has been in a public
beta test for the last few months, and license keys have been on sale
since December, allowing the general public early access to the technology
while the product remained under development.
"Response to the Noise Ninja plug-in beta test
was extremely positive," remarks Jim Christian, founder of PictureCode.
"The software was downloaded approximately 20,000 times, and we already
have thousands of paying customers for it. We're also seeing rapid adoption
by first-tier newspapers, and it was used at the Superbowl yesterday.
Now that the product is officially released, we expect accelerated adoption
in all of our key market segments."
Based on a proprietary breakthrough in mathematical
wavelet denoising, the Noise Ninja plug-in offers a complete, best-of-breed
noise reduction solution, with a suite of tools for analyzing and filtering
image noise. It also provides extensive automation capabilities, including
batch processing based on innovative "action policies", automatic
noise analysis, and automatic noise profile selection based on EXIF data.
This makes it highly adaptable to a variety of professional and amateur
workflows, whether the customer wants a "one-button" automated
solution or complete manual control. "Users have been telling us
that we've succeeded in combining world-class technology with excellent
workflow support," says Christian.
The standalone version of Noise Ninja has also been
updated to utilize some new technology from the plug-in, including a completely
new automatic profiling algorithm and a more configurable automatic profile
matcher.
Both the standalone application and the plug-in are
being labeled with version number 2.1, which is consistent with the historical
numbering sequence for the standalone application. Both versions are available
on Macintosh OS X and Microsoft Windows operating systems.
The plug-in is licensed in a bundle with the standalone
application (in effect, the standalone application is included for free).
The Pro Bundle license ($79.95) activates 16-bit images, batch processing,
and multiprocessor. The Home Bundle ($44.95) supports 8-bit images and
processing of individual images. Volume and student discounts are available.
Customers who have already purchased a Home or Pro standalone license
can upgrade to the corresponding Bundle edition for $10.
August 4, 2004 -- PictureCode
signs 450 leading camera stores as resellers
PictureCode has entered into
a distribution agreement with the PRO buying group, the largest cooperative
buying group for United States camera stores. The deal adds more than
450 leading camera stores to the list of authorized resellers for Noise
Ninja.
The agreement grew out of a successful pilot project
in which Noise Ninja was resold for several months by Precision Camera,
a PRO member store located in Austin, Texas. "Noise Ninja has become
our top selling software product," says Jerry Sullivan, owner of
Precision Camera. "It sells itself. We all know that noise is inherent
in digital photography, especially at high ISO settings. Our customers,
both professionals and amateurs, have been asking for a solution to the
digital noise problem, and they are thrilled to know there is a solution.
Noise Ninja is easy to use, and at any price it's the best product out
there. Plus, PictureCode is constantly improving it and adding value."
According to Sullivan, Noise Ninja is ideal for dealers
who are looking for add-on products to supplement digital camera sales.
"From presentation to sell-through, my personal close ratio is nearly
30%, which is excellent, and it usually takes less than 5 minutes. For
us, it has been a profitable solution to a problem faced by nearly every
customer walking into our store."
Going forward, PRO member stores will form the backbone
of PictureCode's brick-and-mortar distribution channel. The new channel
will complement the company's existing Internet sales channel, providing
customers with more options for purchasing and learning about Noise Ninja.
PRO member stores are among the most experienced and reputable in the
industry.
A partial list of authorized resellers for Noise
Ninja can be found here. If your local camera
store is a PRO member, they can order Noise Ninja directly from the PRO
warehouse if they don't already have it in stock.
